Wonder + Connection
Your newborn session with me will be natural, relaxed and built on connection within your family. Unlike posed studio sessions with props and backdrops, a lifestyle session takes place in your home and focuses on:

Genuine connection

Natural interactions

Soft, baby-led posing

Your real environment (nursery, bedroom, living room)
Think: cuddles on the bed, rocking by a window, tiny fingers wrapped around yours.
It’s less about perfect poses and more about preserving this season exactly as it feels.
All the details in between
Your final gallery will contain a diverse grouping of images that will include the following:

Baby alone (wrapped or in a simple onesie)

Baby with parents
-
Siblings interacting naturally
-
Detail shots (toes, lashes, fingers)
-
Feeding or soothing moments if desired
Breaks for feeding, diaper changes, and snuggles are always built in. I even like to plan for a family snack break - where kids can take the lead.
Preparation + Timing
Ideally newborn sessions take place

5–14 days after birth for those sleepy, curled-up moments
OR -
Anytime within the first 6 weeks if you prefer a more awake, expressive baby
Lifestyle sessions are flexible and baby-led as we move at your newborn’s pace.
Newborn sessions are typically anywhere from 60-90 minutes depending on how many siblings are being photographed along with baby.
You don't need a perfectly bright home - just one or two good windows! Home is where your family spends the majority of time so it makes for a beautiful backdrop for photos of your growing family. We will use all the following

Window light

Soft directional light from doorways

Neutral areas of your home
The natural light of your home offers the feel of soft skin tones, gentle shadows and a timeless feel for your images and the entire gallery. If your baby is born in the warmer months, we will always take a few photos outside in your front or backyard and maybe even photograph a short family walk, playing at the swings for the big siblings or simply sitting together on the front porch.
Of course, if you prefer a more minimalistic, neutral and clean newborn gallery then there is always the studio option for your family.
Picking your location
Rooted in Play
Your family newborn session is rooted in play. Yes, we will take the "everyone smile at me photo" - but the majority of the time will be spent on crafting your final gallery through play. If baby has older siblings, we will invite them to take the lead, while mom hangs with their new baby. If baby does not have older siblings, we will use play through a short walk outside, a family snack in the kitchen or just by using your home creatively!
Your gallery will contain an eclectic mix of the full family together, siblings together, individual baby detailed portraits and lots of lifestyle poses and prompts, a focus on each parent with their children and all the little details up close and at a distance.
The majority of your gallery will be in color with my true to color and warm edit. However, in the editing process, there are some photos that live in mind as a true black & white. Therefore, your gallery may contain a few black & white images. Once your gallery delivers, you will have full access to your gallery and be able to download your entire gallery.
Guided by Light
We will follow the light for your session and work with multiple forms of light throughout your session to make sure every image looks natural and true to the moment. No matter the type of light, your images will remain authentic, natural and true to color. If we are indoor, we will stick close to the windows or stay in doorframes and if you want a midday session, we will find pieces of shade and then play in direct light a bit too. My goal is to have at least 2 forms of light to illuminate your final gallery to give it a natural yet unique to your session feel.
