Wonder + Connection
During a Full session, you have time for wonder, connection and creation with your family. Your final gallery will have an abundance of lifestyle imagery along with a mix of smiling at the camera, siblings together, individual portraits of each kiddo and lots of playful imagery.
**Mini sessions are focused on whole family portraits and sibling photos and fewer lifestyle images.
All the details in between
I live for all the little details and in between moments - the shy smile, the quick hair fix, the kiss on the cheek, the way mom looks at dad when he's playing with the kids - I want to savor every little detailed moment and deliver it to you in your physical gallery.
Preparation + Timing
I will send you a detailed prep guide so you know exactly what to expect leading up to your session. This guide also contains outfit guidance and tips and tricks to navigating a joyful and fun session together with your kiddos. Following the guide is so important to maximizing our time together.
Full sessions are typically 60 minutes and extended family sessions are around 75-90 minutes. They typically take place an hour before sunset or an hour after sunrise.
I have a variety of really beautiful locations in the Lake Country & greater Milwaukee area. After booking, we will work together to pair the perfect location to your family vision for your photoshoot. MINI family sessions are set at a pre-determined location where families are scheduled back to back. However, with a FULL session, you have full autonomy to pick a location nearest and dearest to your heart. Home also makes for a really beautiful location. We can photograph inside and outside your home at the right times of the day so if home is where your heart is, then we can definitely make that happen.
Picking your Location
Rooted in Play
Your family portrait session is rooted in play. Yes, we will take the "everyone smile at me photo" - but the majority of the time will be spent on crafting your final gallery through play. Your gallery will contain an eclectic mix of the full family together, siblings together, individual kiddo portraits and lots of lifestyle poses and prompts, a focus on each parent with their children and all the little details up close and at a distance. The majority of your gallery will be in color with my true to color and warm edit. However, in the editing process, there are some photos that live in mind as a true black & white. Therefore, your gallery may contain a few black & white images. Once your gallery delivers, you will have full access to your gallery and be able to download your entire gallery. Micro sessions are the only sessions where there is a buy up opportunity. Outside of the full session experience, you will have the opportunity to play at a variety of mini sessions throughout the year. Every year I take families to the beach, the fair, the farmers market, the park, the flower farm and more!
Guided by Light
Although the goal is to schedule your session in "golden" light, we will flex to fit your vision and family make up. We will follow the light for your session and work with multiple forms of light throughout your session to make sure every image looks natural and true to the moment. No matter the type of light, your images will remain authentic, natural and true to color. If we are indoor, we will stick close to the windows or stay in doorframes and if you want a midday session, we will find pieces of shade and then play in direct light a bit too. My goal is to have at least 2 forms of light to illuminate your final gallery to give it a natural yet unique to your session feel.
